Gold Sales at the Perth Mint Fell 29% in 2017.Gold sales at the Perth Mint in 2017 were 368,410 ounces in 2017 down 29% from 520,295 ounces sold in 2016 and down 19.4% from 2015 gold sales of 457,132 ounces.
Perth Mint Gold Sales of 368,410 ounces topped U.S. Mint Sales of 228,000 one ounce American Gold Eagles and 302,000 ounces of all denominations of American Gold Eagle coins in 2017.
Gold sales at the Perth Mint in December 2017 were 27,009 ounces down 58% from December 2016 sales of 63,420 ounces.
Perth Mint vs. U.S. Mint Gold Sales
Sales of American Gold Eagles at the U.S. Mint in 2017 were down 72% from 2016. Overall sales of 401.5 million ounces of gold at the United States Mint, including all denominations of American Gold Eagles and American Gold Buffalo coins were the lowest since 2007.

Silver to Gold Sales Ratios at the U.S. and Perth Mints
The Perth Mint historically has sold less silver to gold than the U.S. Mint. In 2015, due to the massive increase in sales of the Australian Silver Kangaroo, the silver to gold sale ratio rose to 25.76 to 1. In 2016, the silver to gold sales ratio at the Perth Mint was 23.51:1. In 2017, the silver to gold ratio at the Perth Mint was 26.16 to one.

In contrast, to the silver to gold sales ratio, the gold silver ratio measures how many ounces of silver it takes to buy one ounce of gold.
The gold silver ratio ended 2017 at over 75 to 1.
