The Royal Canadian Mint produces a variety of silver Maple Leaf coins. The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf was first sold in 1988 (two years after the launch of the U.S. Mint’s Amercian Silver Eagle coin) and has become an extremely popular coin.

Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Mintages – 2004-2014

The Royal Canadian mint has sold over 125 million Silver Maple Leaf coins since 1988 when the first silver maple leaf was minted. Sales of Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins set a record in 2014 with 29,200,000 sold an increase of 1,000,000 from 2013’s record sales.

The Silver Canadian Maple Leaf coins tend to sell at prices higher than the Austrian Silver Philharmonic coins but lower than the U.S. Silver Eagle coins. The special edition Canadian Maple Leaf coins are priced even higher as they are issued in limited editions.
