U.S. Mint October 2016 American Gold Eagle Sales Report.

The U.S Mint sold 100,500 one ounce American Gold Eagle Coins in October up 27.2% from 79,000 sold in September 2016 and up 286.5% from 26,000 sold in October 2015.

Total ounces of gold attributable to all American Gold Eagle Coins including 1/10, 1/4/ 1/2 and one once coins were 116,000 up 23.4% from 94,000 ounces sold in September 2016 and up 241.1% from 34,000 ounces sold in October 2015.

U.S. Mint American Gold Eagle Sales

Sales of one ounce American Gold Eagle coins were up sharply in October 2016 compared to September 2016 sales.

In October 2016, the U.S. Mint sold 100,500 one ounce American Gold Eagle Coins up 27.2% from 79,000 sold in September 2016. Sales of one ounce American Gold Eagle coins in October were up 286.5% from last October’s sales of 26,000.

October sales of one ounce American Gold Eagles were the fifth largest October in the coin’s thirty year history.

The U.S. Mint also sold 8,000 one half ounce, 16,000 quarter ounce and 75,000 one tenth ounce American Gold Eagle coins for a total of 116,000 ounces of American Gold Eagle coins sold in October. In September, the U.S Mint sold a total of 94,000 ounces of American Gold Eagle coins. In October 2015, the U.S. Mint sold 34,000 ounces of American Gold Eagle coins.

Year to date, the U.S. Mint has sold 665,500 one ounce American Gold Eagle coins and a total of 1,636,500 American Gold Eagle coins of all denominations for a total of 808,000 ounces of gold sold in the form of American Gold Eagles.

October’s sales were the highest monthly total in 2016.

Sales of one ounce American Gold Eagle coins are on pace for their best year since 2011.

Gold sales led silver sales at the height of the financial crisis of 2008-2009. Gold was also more popular during the run up to Y2K.

Silver To Gold Sales Ratio in October

In 1998 the silver to gold sales ratio was just 2.8 to one when the U.S. Mint sold 1,518,000 one ounce American Gold Eagle coins and 4,320,000 American Silver Eagles!

In October the U.S. Mint sold 3,825,000 American Silver Eagles and 100,500 one ounce American Gold Eagles for a silver to gold sales ratio of 38 to 1

In September the U.S. Mint sold 1,675,000 American Silver Eagles and 79,000 one ounce American Gold Eagles for a silver to gold sales ratio of 21.2 to 1

In August the U.S. Mint sold 1,280,000 American Silver Eagles and 50,000 one ounce American Gold Eagles for a silver to gold sales ratio of 25.6 to 1

In July the U.S. Mint sold 1,370,000 American Silver Eagles and 30,000 one ounce American Gold Eagles for a silver to gold sales ratio of 45.66 to 1

In June, the U.S. Mint sold 2,837,500 American Silver Eagles and 62,500 one ounce American Gold Eagles for a silver to gold sales ratio of 45.4 to 1

In May, the U.S. Mint sold 4,498,500 American Silver Eagles and 64,500 one ounce American Gold Eagles for a silver to gold sales ratio of 69.74 to 1.

In April, the U.S. Mint sold 4,072,000 American Silver Eagles and 93,000 one ounce American Gold Eagles for a silver to gold sales ratio of 43.78 to 1.
