The U.S Mint sold 30,000 one ounce American Gold Eagle Coins in July down 52% from 62,500 sold in June 2016 and down 79% from 144,500 sold in July 2015.
Total ounces of gold attributable to all American Gold Eagle Coins including 1/10, 1/4/ 1/2 and one once coins were 38,500 down 48% from 73,500 ounces sold in June 2016 and down 77% from 170,000 ounces sold in July 2015.
U.S. Mint American Gold Eagle Sales
Sales of one ounce American Gold Eagle coins were down sharply in July 2016 compared to June 2016 sales; 62,500 coins were sold.
In July 2016, the U.S. Mint sold 30,000 one ounce American Gold Eagle Coins down 52% from 62,500 sold in June 2016. Sales of one ounce American Gold Eagle coins in July were down 79% from last July’s sales of 144,500.

The U.S. Mint also sold 2,000 one half ounce, 10,000 quarter ounce and 50,000 one tenth ounce American Gold Eagle coins for a total of 38,500 ounces of American Gold Eagle coins sold in July. In June, the U.S Mint sold a total of 73,500 ounces of American Gold Eagle coins. In July 2015, the U.S. Mint sold 144,500 ounces of American Gold Eagle coins.
Year to date, the U.S. Mint has sold 436,000 one ounce American Gold Eagle coins and a total of 1,135,000 American Gold Eagle coins of all denominations for a total of 539,500 ounces of gold sold in the form of American Gold Eagles.
