American Silver Eagle Coin Sales Top 17,676,000 in 2016 with 2.8 million sold so far in April.
The second coin in the American The Beautiful Series, The Cumberland Gap National Historical Park five ounce coin opens April with sales of 48,000.

American Silver Eagle Sales
After setting a sales record for the most American Silver Eagle coins sold in a quarter from January – March 2016, April sales remain on that record pace.
As of April 18, 2016, the U.S. Mint reported selling 2,834,000 American Silver Eagles in April and 17,676,500 so far in 2016.
In 2015, sales of American Silver Eagles set a record for the third year in a row. Total American Silver Eagle sales in 2015 were 47,000,000. In April 2015, the U.S. Mint sold 2,851,500 American Silver Eagles. 2016 April sales should easily surpass that figure.
Through April 2015, the U.S. Mint had sold 14,922,500 American Silver Eagles. Through mid April 2016, the U.S Mint has sold 17,676,500 American Silver Eagles or 18.5% more.

America The Beautiful Coin Sales
Each year since 2010, the U.S. Mint has released a series of five America the Beautiful five ounce silver coins. In 2016, the five coins to be released are the Shawnee National Forest (mintage sold out), Cumberland Gap National Historical Park (in release), Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (to be released later in 2016), Theodore Roosevelt National Park (to be released later in 2016) and Fort Sumter National Monument (to be released later in 2016) .
The second coin in the 2016 American The Beautiful series the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park has sold 48,000 so far in April. Coupled with sales of 105,000 of the first coin in the 2016 ATB series, the Shawnee National Forest, total sales of five ounce ATB coins so far in 2016 are 153,000 which is greater than the entire 2014 sales of ATB coins of 136,000 and slightly lower than the entire 2015 mintage of ATB coins of 212,000.
The U.S. Mint has authorized up to 150,000 Cumberland Gap National Historical Park five ounce coins to be minted.

In 2015 the U.S. Mint sold 212,000 five ounce America the Beautiful silver coins.
Silver To Gold Sales Ratio as of April 18, 2016
Sales of silver have been proportionally far higher than sales of gold coins at the U.S. Mint in recent years. That trend continues in 2016.

Sales of one ounce American Silver Eagles to sales of all American Gold Eagles and American Gold Buffalo coins (17,676,500 ounces vs. 384,500 ounces) – 45.97:1
Gold Silver Ratio
Gold was the best performing asset of the first quarter rising over 15%. Silver was the second best performer with rising over 10%. In April, silver has tacked on further gains, while gold has stabilized. As a result the gold silver ratio has fallen from an all time high of over 80 to 1.
