The Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) withdrawals of 188.121 tons of gold in September were up 12.1% from withdrawals of 214.24 tons in September 2017.

Withdrawals on the Shanghai Gold Exchange are often considered a good proxy for the level of physical gold demand in China.

The PBOC has not reported adding any gold to reserves since October 2016.
