America The Beautiful Coin Sales in 2016.
First two releases in the 2016 America The Beautiful series are among the top selling coins ever.
Sales of Five Ounce America The Beautiful Coins Accelerate in 2016.
Each year since 2010, the U.S. Mint has released a series of five America the Beautiful five ounce silver coins. In 2016, the five coins to be released are the Shawnee National Forest (mintage sold out), Cumberland Gap National Historical Park (in release), Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (to be released later in 2016), Theodore Roosevelt National Park (to be released later in 2016) and Fort Sumter National Monument (to be released later in 2016).
The second coin in the 2016 American The Beautiful series the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park sold 64,000 in April. Coupled with sales of 105,000 of the first coin in the 2016 ATB series, the Shawnee National Forest, total sales of five ounce ATB coins so far in 2016 are 169,000 which is greater than the entire 2014 sales of ATB coins of 136,000 and slightly lower than the entire 2015 mintage of ATB coins of 212,000.
No ATB coin sold more than 45,000 in 2015- see chart below.
The U.S. Mint has authorized up to 150,000 Cumberland Gap National Historical Park five ounce coins to be minted. If all authorized Cumberland Gap coins are minted, it would become the best selling ATB coin yet. The Cumberland Gap coin is already the fifth highest sellling coin in the ATB series history.
