The U.S. Mint sold 28,500 one ounce American Gold Buffalo coins in October, up 171% from 10,500 sold in October 2015. Sales of American Gold Buffalo coins were up 63% from 17,500 sold in September 2016.
American Gold Buffalo vs. American Gold Eagle
The American Gold Buffalo coin is the U.S. Mint’s 24K gold coin introduced in 2006. The American Gold Eagle coin series has been minted in 22K gold since the U.S. Mint began producing them in 1986.

Through October 2016, the U.S. Mint has sold mint has sold 177,500 one ounce American Gold Buffalo coins vs. 665,500 one ounce American Gold Eagle coins. (3.75 to 1)
